Food, Art and Music Events in the Philadelphia in September

The mushroom is elevated to rock-star status during the Annual Mushroom Festival. Philadelphia, the Mushroom Capital of the World puts the fun in fungi with a weekend of culinary events, amusement rides, mushroom farm tours, a street fair, entertainment, an antique car show and more. Mushroom lovers come to celebrate the humble fungi known as the mushroom at the Kennett Square Mushroom Festival, a two-day festival of food and family fun.

Visitors can expect to taste their way through a competitive line-up of soups and other mushroom dishes prepared by local restaurateurs on Sunday, and you won’t want to miss what the group of celebrity chefs and culinary arts students will be serving up throughout the festival. Kids and adults alike will love the live entertainment, the mushroom farm tours and the Growers’ Exhibit, where the secrets of mushroom cultivation are revealed. The Mushroom Festival, featured on the Food Network’s All American Festival show, has been voted by Travelocity.com as one of the top 10 festivals in Pennsylvania, listing it as a “Local Secret, Big Find.”

Keep an eye out for the Mushroom Ice Cream – it tastes like Cream of Mushroom soup and it sells out every year.
