A new major music festival is launching in Cardiff this year with a fantastic line up of Welsh and international music. Festival of Voice is the first large-scale, UK celebration of the voice in all its forms, and from 3-12 June, the festival will be taking over the city’s best cultural spaces to bring visitors joy, delight and surprise in equal measure.
The festival builds on the unique heritage of Wales as the ‘land of song’ – the nation is celebrated for its profound tradition of choral singing and stream of world-famous vocal artists.
The programme reflects Wales’ musical heritage and creates a new kind of festival that breaks down boundaries, taking as its theme all forms of vocal expression: opera alongside grime, musical theatre alongside rock, cabaret alongside gospel and swing alongside a cappella choral music.
The festival will encourage participation, with opportunities for all ages and all styles of music and levels of experience to get involved. It will feature over 12,000 participants across 78 performances over the ten days.
