The Hawai‘i Tourism Authority (HTA) announced that three request for proposals (RFPs)

have been issued today offering funding support of programs being implemented in 2017 to perpetuate
Hawaiian culture, the natural environment, and community festivals and events.

George D. Szigeti, HTA president and CEO, encouraged individuals, organizations and nonprofits to submit applications for funding. “These programs support the essence of what makes Hawai‘i such a magnificent place to live and visit: Hawaiian culture, the environment and our communities.

We applaud the dedication of those responsible for making these community-inspired programs possible and are proud to offer HTA’s support for their efforts next year,” said Szigeti.

The three categories of programs that HTA has issued RFPs and will provide funding support to

qualified applicants in 2017 are:
Kūkulu Ola Program (RFP 17-06): Programs in which cultural practitioners, craftsmen, musicians, and
artists are reinforcing the significance of the Hawaiian culture to the community-at-large.
Aloha ‘Āina Program (RFP 17-07): Programs that help preserve and enhance Hawai‘i’s unique natural resources and environment for the benefit of future generations.

Community Enrichment Program (RFP 17-05): Community-based projects and events in the areas of

agriculture, culture, education, health and wellness, nature, sports, and technology for the enjoyment of
residents and visitors.

The deadline to submit proposals for these three programs to HTA is Monday, October 31, 2016, at
4:30 p.m.

HTA today also issued a request for qualifications (RFQ) to provide administrative and management

services in support of the programs in 2017, as follows:
Administrative Support for Product Enrichment Initiative (RFQ 17-04): HTA is seeking a contractor
to provide administrative support services and assistance in procuring and managing programs for the
three categories listed above.
