An Arbroath Bed and Breakfast has achieved VisitScotland’s Five Star Gold Quality Assurance Award in recognition of its exceptional standards.

Brucefield Boutique B&B achieved the award, the highest possible in the national tourism organisation’s quality assurance scheme, following their latest grading visit.

Already ranked as the number one B&B in Arbroath by TripAdvisor, Brucefield is a contemporary and stylish accommodation offering guests a choice of five modern en-suite bedrooms.

A short walk from Arbroath town centre, the recently refurbished 1920’s manor is a great location to discover Arbroath’s historic abbey, picturesque harbour and sandy beaches.

The B&B, which joined the Quality Assurance scheme in 2009, also boasts a Taste Our Best award for its use of local and quality Scottish produce.

Featured in TripAdvisor’s hall of fame, Brucefield was also named the joint best hotel in the UK for sleep quality by the travel review site in 2012.

VisitScotland’s Five Star Gold Quality Assurance Award recognises serviced accommodation businesses which achieve the highest levels of excellence. Businesses that achieve the award excel in areas of customer care and hospitality, showing evidence of a real commitment to development and training.

Raymond Knighton, owner of Brucefield Boutique B&B, said:

“I am delighted to receive this 5 Star Gold Award – it was Esther and I’s dream to achieve a Gold Award and I am over the moon. I would like to thank all of my family and of course all of the staff at Brucefield Boutique for all their hard work over the years and their dedication to perfection that has made this dream a reality.”

Jim Clarkson, Regional Director, VisitScotland, said:

“It is fantastic to see Angus’ accommodation offering enhanced by Brucefield Boutique B&B’s thoroughly deserved achievement. To reach a Five Star Gold rating takes an incredible amount of work and dedication – Raymond and the team at Brucefield should be very proud of their success.

“This award, coupled with their Taste Our Best accreditation, ensures guests are going to enjoy the very best in quality local produce during their stay at this beautiful Angus retreat.

“Our Quality Assurance scheme helps businesses to reach their full potential and truly shine. The scheme is about more than just the ‘stars’ on the door – it’s about the entire visitor experience, about investing in your business and making it as economically sustainable as it can possibly be.”

Developed and improved for over 30 years, VisitScotland’s Quality Assurance schemes are world-leading and provide a trusted, independent and impartial source of information for visitors. They allow businesses not just to meet visitor expectations, but exceed them.

QA can open the door to new customers. It is a powerful marketing tool and works well with online review sites in using an independent perspective to measure visitor experience against tried and tested criteria, so visitors know exactly what to expect.

Launched in September 2013,Taste Our Best is a joint initiative between the national tourism organisation and the Scottish Government. Assessors rate the overall eating experience, the extent to which Scottish produce (at least 40%) is used and promoted, and staff knowledge of the produce on the menu and its provenance.
