American Airlines has planned to expand its premium economy service from 2017. The airline will start accommodating premium economy passengers on flights from Dallas-Fort Worth to Paris from January 2017 and the same service will be available for the flights from Dallas to Seoul from February.

It will be available to the customers in early 2017 only for the international flights and the premium economy is expected to take flight in April.

The sole idea of premium economy is to fill in the gap between the main cabin and business class. Adjustable leather chairs with extendable foot, leg and headrests are the main features of the premium economy. It also has wider and stretched legroom than the seats in traditional economy. The other facilities include free enhanced checked bag, meal with complimentary wine, beer and spirits, useful amenity kits on board and noise-reducing headphones.

The service was debuted from November 2016 and it was scheduled from Dallas to Sao Paulo and Madrid. Four new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners were introduced on the way. When the airline’s new Airbus A350s enter service in 2017, those aircraft will also have premium economy onboard.

The premium economy seating will be introduced in Boeing 777-300ERs, 777-200ERs, 787-8s, and Airbus A330s. The fleet is expected to complete by June 2018. American Airlines elite members will be able to book the seats at no additional charge. Although the airline has not yet released a long-term pricing plan, customers can upgrade to Premium Economy on existent flights for a fee that ranges from $163 to $190 each way.
