THAI Smile is ready to integrate its reservation system with the parent Thai Airways International on Aug 1 after delays and inflated costs.

The change of the reservation and ticketing system, from the present Navitaire system to the Amadeus Altea Suite, promises to increase booking efficiency, making it more convenient, accurate and faster.

According to THAI Smile acting chief executive Wiwat Piyawiroj, the new support system will also support better connectivity with the other airlines. He also said that the system would be implemented in four key areas: reservation, ticketing, inventory and check-in for departure control. The entire system will help to enhance the customer service and staff performances.

Since the Amadeus Altea system is designed to provide speed and automation, THAI Smile’s passengers will receive more convenient and improved services, which will be especially helpful for customers in the event of disruptions and re-accommodating disrupted customers, Mr Wiwat said.

In addition, Amadeus Altea is also a modern passenger service system (PSS) based on world-class technology and used by more than 130 leading airlines.

THAI Smile’s migration is meant to create greater integration with THAI, which is seeking to have the group’s subsidiary airlines, including Nok Air, operate as a team.

Adoption of the reservation system forms a key part of THAI Smile’s growth strategy and transformation from a budget airline to a regional player.
