Exploring deeper engagement in civil aviation through a comprehensive aviation agreement and suggesting  need for a global agreement on railways the European Union’s Mobility and Transport Commissioner invited India.

Violeta Bulc, European Commissioner for Mobility and Transport said after meeting  Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju  suggested holding an annual aviation summit in India.

She shared the connectivity issues and expected the minister to take furthers steps for the bilateral agreement. The comprehensive aviation agreement is expected to have  appositive impact on tourism.

This will help in developing better ways to improve safety, security, and the size of airports.

She further added that she was encouraged by the discussion and proposed to conduct yearly summit on aviation in India and will explore all areas.

She discussed issues related to road safety, and standardisation in the railways during a meet with the Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Railways Minister Piyush Goyal.
Bulc said that Road safety was their biggest concern and a global issues which is being discussed at the UN level too.
Minister Gadkari showed interest in how through a systematic approach the issues concerning road safety can be decreased.
Bulc shared her Vision Zero a multi-national road safety project aimed at zero fatalities and injuries in road traffic.
EU has started to collect statistics on road safety and compare member states in the absence of good performance a member state would be engaged take the next step said Bulc .
Bulc further highlighted the importance of global standards and spoke on the emerging a need for an international agreement regarding railways.
She further wants to initiate a joint global event where she can discuss standardisation and regulator alignment on a global scale.
