As per the new immigration policy rules in the United Kingdom introduced from January 11 students will have the benefit of applying for the Tier-2 visa or skilled worker visa after the completion of their course.

Under the purview of the current policy students could apply for work visa post gaining the degree.

A newsletter by EY-UK stated that the new rule will allow the students to apply for Tier-2 visa a few  months in advance that would otherwise would have been possible.

London mayor Sadiq Khan, in his blueprint “Immigration, a future approach” mentioned about the decreasing number of foreign students applying for work visas in the United Kingdom.

He made suggestions about post-study visa to be different from the Tier-2 and permit students to work in the UK for 12-24 months after the completion of the course.

A report mentioned that the change in the immigration rule was due to the dialogue between the UK universities and the government.

The current policy was not promising for the students to look for a job opportunity and had to return in the occasion if they could not manage a job .

The students must further keep a track of the impact of Brexit on the visas.
